But over time, all jewelry begins to lose its shine. Silver and other metals will eventually tarnish. Deposits of debris and daily grime will cause gemstones to look dull and dirty. Following a daily jewelry cleaning regimen and jewelry care best practices can preserve the life of your jewelry and keep it looking great for many years.

Here are some jewelry care tips to help you maintain the stunning appeal of your jewelry.

1. Store separetely in a jewelry box or our Bianco soft pouch.

This seems like an obvious tip, but at the end of the day, we’ve all been guilty of tossing our jewelry in a drawer or on the nightstand. It’s best to keep your jewelry in a jewelry box or our Bianco soft pouch. This will prevent scratching and tangling.

2. Keep gold jewelry separetely from silver jewelry.

After a few weeks, you’ll notice that silver dulls and, after a while, forms a blackish layer.

That’s caused by oxidation, and when you store such jewelry with other metals, not just gold, a transfer takes place. That’s why you’re generally advised to keep different metals separately. You wouldn’t want your gold jewelry leaving a mark on the silver one and vice versa because they scratched.

3. Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, hairsprays and other chemicals.

Avoid direct contact with body lotions, perfume, hair sprays, sunscreen or other chemicals. Remember to remove rings & jewelry while applying those products. They can damage your jewelry.

4. When in doubt, take it off.

The swimming pool isn’t an ideal place for your jewelry, either is the gym. Even when preparing a meal or doing household chores, it’s a good idea to store your jewelry in a safe place. Not only will this protect your treasured pieces from harsh chemicals and debris buildup, but it will also help you avoid losing your jewelry.

5. Remove Jewelry when showering, bathing or swimming.

We strongly advise that you remove jewellery when bathing, showering or swimming because water and chemicals (especially chlorine) can affect the longevity of the gold plating, encourage silver to tarnish and dull gemstones.

How to Clean Your Jewellery

With time and wear, sterling silver jewellery pieces may lose their original brilliance. To bring back and maintain their shine, you can clean them with the special jewelry polishing cloth that you will find in your package, to clean your jewelry occasionally or whenever needed. We do not recommend using any jewellery polishes as these usually contain harsh abrasives which can considerably damage your jewellery.
